How guest lunch works

This is for all users who wish to know more about the Guest Lunch at Welcome Food

What is guest lunch?

The lunch arrangement in Welcome is personal and tied to your employer's agreement with the restaurant. This means your QR code applies to you only — it cannot be used to pay for colleagues or guests. This is because the lunch deal is subsidised by your employer and set up on a per-employee basis.

How your QR code works

When paying for lunch, you scan your personal QR code at the restaurant. The QR code can only be scanned once per day. Once used, your lunch deal for that day is spent — regardless of the amount or number of dishes.

Can I pay for guests with my QR code?

No. Your QR code is personal and cannot be used to cover someone else's purchase. If the code is scanned more than once in a day, it will be rejected. This is not a technical error — it is how the system is designed to ensure subsidies are used correctly.

How guests pay

Guests pay directly to the restaurant, outside of the Welcome system. How this works varies by building and restaurant. Many restaurants offer payment via Vipps or card on site. Contact the restaurant in your building to find out which guest payment methods they offer.

Note: A better solution is on the way!

We are working on an improved guest lunch solution. The current arrangement, where guests pay directly to the restaurant, is temporary.

More information will follow when the new solution is ready.
