How subsidies work in Welcome Food
Some employers offer a canteen subsidy as part of an employee benefit. This means your employer covers part of, or all of, your lunch cost at the canteen.
Who sets the amount?
Your employer sets the subsidy amount. You don't need to do anything yourself — the subsidy is automatically deducted from your subsidy balance each time you register a purchase at the canteen.
Credit Subsidy
The credit subsidy amount is set by the company and agreed directly with the restaurant — this amount cannot be changed by the company once agreed. The subsidy resets at the start of each month, and any unused credit is lost rather than carried over. Each deal has a credit limit, but the subsidy itself is unlimited.
Leftover Credit
If you have credit remaining but it doesn't cover the full cost of your lunch, the payment is automatically split. The remaining credit is used first, and the difference is charged to your payment method.
How does it work in practice?
Your balance in Welcome Food can consist of two parts: your own top-up balance and a subsidy amount from your employer. The subsidy is applied automatically at the point of payment. If the subsidy doesn't cover the full amount, the remainder is deducted from your own balance.
