Prerequisites
As an Androids Smartphone user, you will have one or both versions of digital cards:
In-App badge: The digital card is on the Welcome Access app
Google Wallet: The digital card is in the Google Wallet
The reason why you might have one or both of these options is due to how the readers and the building are set up.
Android Smartphone: Google Wallet
Android Smartphone: In-App
NFC Reader using an Android Smartphone
The NFC reader on Android phones can be located at the top, back, or bottom of the phone - check your model below for clarity.
NFC chip location
Brand / Model | NFC chip location | Scanning tip |
Samsung Galaxy S24 / S25 / S26 | Upper part / Near camera | Hold the top edge of the phone against the reader |
Samsung Galaxy S-Ultra models | Center / Upper middle | Place the center of the phone (slightly below the cameras) against the reader |
Samsung Galaxy A-series (e.g. A55/A56) | Center of back | Lay the back flat against the terminal |
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip (7 / 6) | Lower half | Since the phone folds, the chip is in the lower part (near the charging port) |
Google Pixel (9 / 10 / Pro) | Center / Just below camera bar | Aim with the area just below the horizontal camera strip |
OnePlus (12 / 13 / 15) | Upper part / Around camera module | Hold the top of the phone against the terminal |
Requirements:
NFC and Bluetooth must be enabled in settings
The Welcome Access app must be active and running in the background
When using the digital card, you should be aware of the following conditions:
Some phones work when the screen is active (not unlocked)
Some phones require the screen to be unlocked
Some require the Welcome Access app to be open
What do the lights on the reader mean?
Light Colour | STid |
Green light | Door is open and enter |
Yellow light | Enter Access PIN code to enter (outside building hours) |
Red light | Access denied / Door locked |
No light | Reader is not integrated or device is not functioning with the reader |
Troubleshooting
Yellow light - forgot your PIN?
When you created your digital card, you also set a personal PIN code. Follow this guide to change it: Change PIN code
Red light - no access?
Red light can mean you don't have access to this door, that access is not active at the time of day you're trying to enter (e.g. outside 0800-1600), that the reader isn't making proper contact with the card, or that you entered the wrong PIN.
Check if your phone works on other doors you know you have access to
If it concerns a specific door you believe you should have access to then contact your company administrator
Check if a colleague with the same access group can enter the door
