How to get started with the Digital Access card for Android Smartphone

This article is for all users who want to get started with the digital access card on their Android smartphone

Welcome Workdays supports digital access cards via NFC on Android Smartphones. This provides fast, stable, and secure access compared to Bluetooth-based solutions. The cards are encrypted and stored securely on your Android device.

Important: Digital access cards work alongside plastic cards. Employees can choose to use either mobile, plastic card, or both. We still recommend that everyone moves toward a plastic-free future!

Welcome Access is enabled in the company

  1. Open the welcome email and download the Welcome Access app from:

  2. Log in with the same email address you use in Welcome Workdays

  3. Tap "Generate access card" in the app and follow the instructions to add the card to Google Wallet or In-App

  4. If you haven't set a PIN code in Welcome Workdays before, you will be asked to create one. This is used on card readers with two-factor authentication (e.g. outside normal working hours)

  5. You can continue to use a plastic card in parallel if you wish

Security

  • Digital cards use the phone's NFC chip for contactless access.

  • Card data is encrypted and stored in a secure chip on the device.

  • If you lose your phone, the card can be blocked via Find My Device.

Need a physical plastic card?

Digital access cards cover most needs, but some users also need a physical plastic card. Both work in parallel.

See Access cards in Welcome Access: Digital and physical for guidance on ordering physical cards.
