How to get started with your Welcome Access Badge on the Android Smartphone

This article is for all users who wish to know how to get started and generate their access card in Welcome Access on the Android smartphone

How to get started

  1. There are two methods to download the Welcome Access app depending on which company and building you're located

    1. You will receive an email like the following image, where you can select the App Store button that best matches the device you're using: Apple or Android

    2. The other option is by going to the App Store that best matches your device and searching for the 'Welcome Access' app itself and downloading it that way

  2. Once it's downloaded, it's time to begin your journey! Open the app and tap Ok, show me!

  3. Tap Let's Start! and enter the email address associated with your Welcome Workdays account and tap Continue

    Please note: It asks for your work email address BUT if you're using a personal email then this may be your work email address.

  4. You will now be sent a 4-digit code to that email address to verify your login email address, if you don't receive this email then please check your Junk/Spam Folder.

    Please note: This verification code may appear in your junk mail. If it doesn't then please ask your Company Administrator to verify that the email entered in Welcome is correct. Otherwise, it might be blocked by our system accidentally, so you can email our support email to unblock.

  5. If the code is successful, you will reach the next screen where it may prompt you for certain permissions, including notifications, locations, etc. It is strongly advisable to allow all permissions prompted, otherwise the Access Badge may not generate correctly and result in an Activation Issue

    Google Wallet Method

  6. Once you've allowed all requested permissions, you'll arrive at the screen to generate your Welcome Access badge or In-App Badge depending on whether your building has the Google Wallet Access Badge enabled. Tap the Add toGoogle Wallet

  7. You will be taken through a set of screens that will be required to add the Access Card to your Google Wallet in the background. During the generation process, please do not interrupt the flow by changing screens or doing anything on the screen to disrupt the generation as this will prevent it from generating successfully.

  8. You will be asked to create a 4-digit Access PIN code that you will use on the Readers when they flash amber. Tap Ok, Proceed

  9. You will now be given a screen where you must tap Accept and continue to generate the Access Badge

  10. You will now have received this screen that confirms the Access Badge has been added to your Google Wallet.

  11. Congratulations! Your Access Card should complete shortly afterwards and you can begin using the Access Card just like a physical card

    In-App Badge

  12. The In-App Badge does not require Google Wallet and will download directly on to the Welcome Access app itself. Tap Generate

  13. Your In-App Badge will now begin generating in the background and should take around 40-45 seconds to complete

  14. Once the bottom green bars have filled and you've been notified your In-app Badge is ready to be used, you can exit the screen using the 'X' at the top left corner. Congratulations! You should be all set to use the In-App badge like you would your physical card
